Since I was a kid, I have loved oatmeal for breakfast. Growing up and spending most of my life in Minnesota, it was cold 8 months out of the year. On those cold mornings, I liked to cook a hot bowl of oatmeal to warm me up and keep me full and prevents me from pre-lunch snacking.
Oatmeal offers various nutritional benefits. It’s healthy nutrients include protein, complex carbohydrates, and heart-healthy polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats.
Many of us eat oatmeal with added spices, fruits, nuts or dairy products. These additions give the oatmeal a taste of sweetness or creaminess that would soon have you forgetting your eating oatmeal all together.
I don’t buy the instant oatmeal packets anymore. They are loaded with sugar! I mean LOADED! I won’t even mention the high sodium and artificially flavored ingredients. These may seem like a great time-saver during busy mornings. However, you can make oatmeal quickly and easily from scratch at home. Packets be gone!
